Performance Improvement in Optimistic Concurrency Control Mechanism of Distributed Databases

The main aim of the paper is to improve the performance of optimistic concurrency control mechanism in distributed databases.  The original approach of optimistic concurrency with respect to the validation technique, the treatment of long transactions and the problem of starvation.   In this paper, design alternatives of the validation phase are considered which not only avoid these disadvantages but additionally improve the performance of the original approach. Very promising is a new validation technique which especially supports read-transactions, therefore, decreasing the number of backups substantially. An adaptation of the new optimistic concurrency control schemes to a distributed environment is presented. The proposed algorithm is deadlock free and offers high parallelism.

Origin of Telugu Literature : I am not sure of the origin of telugu language. But all of our south indian languages are derived from a common language called "DRAVIDA", but luckily telugu is the sweetest language out of them. That way people say it "italian of the east"( ref: sir C.P.Brown).Telugu literature was started in 11th century by the great person named " NANNAYYA". He was the first person who gave life to our telugu literature first time. He put his efforts to write " maha bharatam" in telugu. Before that there is no single telugu literature. Find the Person Behind an Email

You get an email from a person with whom you have never interacted before and therefore, before you reply to that message, you would like to know something more about him or her. How do you do this without directly asking the other person?

Web search engines are obviously the most popular place for performing reverse email lookups but if the person you’re trying to research doesn’t have a website or has never interacted with his email address on public forums before, Google will probably be of little help.

No worries, here are few tips and online services that may still help you uncover the identity of that unknown email sender.

#1. Find the sender’s location

Open the header of the email message and look for lines that say “Received: from” followed by an IP address in square brackets. If there are multiple entries, use the IP address mentioned in the last entry.

Now paste the IP address in this trace route tool and you should get a fairly good idea about the location of the email sender.

#2. Reverse email search with Facebook

Facebook has 450 million users worldwide and there’s a high probability that the sender may also have a profile on Facebook.

Unlike LinkedIn and most other social networks, Facebook lets you search users by email address so that should make your job simpler. Just paste the email address of the sender into the Facebook search box and you’ll immediately know if a matching profile exists in the network.

If you are able to locate that person on Facebook, download his profile picture and then upload it to TinEye – it’s a reverse image search engine so you can locate his other social profiles where he may have used the same picture.

Access the Web with your Email Address (Convert a web page into PDF)

Web2PDF is an extremely useful web based service that lets you browse the web using your email address.

Compose a new email message, type the URL of any web page in the body of that message and send it to submit@web2pdfconvert.com. The service will then fetch the corresponding web page on its own servers and will send it back it you as a PDF attachment – all this takes no more than a few seconds.

I have tried this service will several web pages, including ones that have complex layouts, and the conversion was more or less perfect in all cases (see examples here and here). The converted PDFs not only retain the layout but also the hyperlinks and thus you may fetch other internal pages as well using email itself.

Such a service may come handy in quite a few situations like when you have access to email but general web access is restricted. Or when you are surfing the web on an old mobile phone with a pathetic browser – in that case, the built-in PDF reader may be a better option for reading web articles.

My favorite Cuisine

Ingredients

2 tbsp. cabbage finely shredded

2 tbsp. carrot finely julienned (slivers)

1 tbsp. cauliflower finely chopped

1 small stalk celery, finely chopped

1 tbsp. spring onion greens finely chopped

1/4 tsp. ginger grated

1/2 tsp. red chilli sauce

1 tsp. soya sauce

1 tsp. brown vinegar

1/4 tsp. pepper powder

salt to taste

2 tsp. cornflour

1 tsp butter or oil

4 cups water or vegetable stock

Method

Heat fat, add vegetables, ginger, except spring onions.

Stir fry till cooked, add spring onions, stir.

Add stock, chilli sauce, soya sauce, vinegar and stir.

Bring to a boil, simmer for 7-8 minutes.

Add salt and pepper.

Mix cornflour in 1/2 cup water, and pour into soup, stirring continuously.

Cook for 2 minutes. Serve hot.

Story of Morse codes

Morse code is a fascinating way to send messages and create code.  Morse code is a method of transmitting textual information as a series of on-off tones, lights, or clicks that can be directly understood by a skilled listener or observer without special equipment.    A dot consists of an "on" element followed by an "off" element, and a dash is three "on" elements and one "off" element. Each character is a sequence of dots and dashes, with the shorter sequences assigned to the more frequently used letters in English – the letter 'E' represented by a single dot, and the letter 'T' by a single dash. A speed of 12 WPM is therefore associated with an element time of 100 milliseconds, so each dot is 100 ms long and each dash is 300 ms long, each followed by 100 ms of silence.
